Consulting Book Bonuses
I would LOVE an honest Amazon review!
The best thing you can do to help is write a quick two minute or so Amazon Review ... it's fast and easy.
Initial impressions are fine - you don't need to read the entire book for this, and you can easily go back and edit your review later.
This enormously helps get the word out (the Amazon algorithm feeds in large part off reviews, and will recommend the book to many others based on reviews).
Click here for the link to leave a review for USA based readers - for my many other readers not in the USA, simply look up the book in Amazon and scroll down. It's on the left at least right now.
Other reviews (Goodreads, etc. are great too).
The Missing Chapter
There is the one crucial thing I missed in my book on getting started with consulting, something perhaps nonobvious.
I've addressed that here:
Getting Started in Infosec Consulting: The Missing Chapter
“How do you start and build a consulting practice that you love?”
That's the big question. It's way beyond just financially successful.
Feel free to spread this far and wide - and some of you may have seen the prerelease.

We have five interviews - five very different consultants, from case studies in the book.
I remember having drinks with Tim in Minneapolis when he confided that he wanted to leave his nearly dream job because he wanted to consult independently. I didn't know Tim well yet, but certainly encouraged him. He ended up taking my Successful Infosec Consulting Class and is a very successful student!
And today? He has built a multi-million dollar consulting company focused on red team activities, is having the time of his life, and we have gotten to know each other very well. I'll actually be hanging out with him next week in Amsterdam as of this writing, along with my recent college grad son. I am hoping BIG TIME that some of his entrepreneurial spirit that I merely helped stoke will rub off on my son!
I also remember incredible detail of that night with Tim when we first discussed consulting, including what I was drinking, who else was there, the mouse that was running around on the outside patio, etc. What I remember most was that his going independent was a "no brainer!"
Ken Hartman, another case study from the book. Honestly Ken is one of the most motivating people I know and full of useful knowledge. He is another example of someone who started consulting on the side, and although his boss trying to talk him out if it, eventually went full time
This is a follow up after the book was published.
Doc Blackburn who NEVER wanted to leave his job he loved it so much. I was jealous. He started consulting on the side and eventually made the shift to full time consulting, January before the pandemic hit - and very successfully I'll add!
